The Blanket That Changed Where I Sit in My Own Home

On chunky knit, weighted throws, and the home object that actually gets used

Home / Comfort

used it every single day

The couch corner I never sat in became the one I do not want to leave. The only thing that changed was the blanket.

The YnM chunky knit throw is handmade, and the weight comes from the size of the yarn and how tightly it is knitted rather than from fillers. It is heavier than it looks and breathable in a way that most heavy blankets are not. Warm without being hot. The loops are large enough to let air through.

On the couch it drapes well. Not in a staged way but in the kind of way that looks like someone has been using it, which is how objects should look in a room you actually live in. The texture is the thing that photographs cannot quite capture — it is dense and soft at the same time.

Machine washable on a gentle cycle. The chenille yarn does not shed in the wash, which was my main concern. Multiple colors and sizes. The one I have is in a muted blue grey that reads warmer in person than in photos.

This is the blanket I use → YnM chunky knit throw blanket

YnM chunky knit weighted throw, handmade, breathable, machine washable, and the most-reached-for object in the room, every day without exception.
